⚡ The Mining-Energy Planning Unit (Upme) has prioritized seven critical energy transmission projects through an express mechanism to avoid possible blackouts in regions of Colombia. 🇨🇴
These projects focus on areas facing grid depletion, specifically in the Caribbean Region, Chocó and Norte de Santander.
The priority projects are as follows:
🔹 Caribbean Region: installation of synchronous compensators in La Guajira, Cesar and Magdalena. This project will benefit from the first equipment of this type in the National Interconnected System. In addition, a new 500kV substation in Magangué, which will expand the capacity to meet demand.
🔹 Chocó: new substation in Quibdó and dynamic compensators to improve infrastructure.
🔹 Norte de Santander: New Tonchalá substation with connection to the STN and dynamic compensators in the Ínsula substation to strengthen the energy network.
These initiatives, projected over a four to seven year horizon, will address recurring network constraints and ensure structural solutions to minimize the risk of unmet demand.☀️🪫
At CGM, we are dedicated to designing and studying renewable energy solutions. This initiative by Upme aligns with our mission to provide innovative and efficient energy solutions. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to drive sustainable energy transformation! 🌍⚡
